artisan design team – june 2021 – hand-penned suite…

06.23.2021…..Happy Wednesday, everyone! I’m so excited to share my June monthly showcase projects for the Stampin’ Up! 2021 Artisan Design Team! For this month’s projects, I was asked to use products from the Hand-Penned Suite, from the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog.

There have also been a few changes to the way the Artisan Design Team is sharing projects this year. The team has been divided into three groups, and each group is assigned a different collection of products to create with. This means an even greater variety of projects and inspiration. And…instead of the monthly blog hops, the team will have a greater presence on the Stampin’ Up! Corporate Facebook Page and their Instagram account as well.

Be sure check out the rest of the team’s fabulous creations on the Stampin’ Up! Corporate Facebook Page at : https://www.facebook.com/stampinup

Today, I’m sharing two cards that I created with the Hand-Penned Suite. I created a standard size card 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″, and a small 3″ x 6″ slimline card. I’ve also included complete instructions underneath each project, so you can scroll right to the project that suits your fancy and start creating!

Let’s start with the standard size card…

For this card, I started with some Basic White Thick Cardstock, embossed it with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder, and adhered it to a Basic White Thick Cardstock base. I also layered some Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper on top of that.

Next, I embossed another piece of Basic White Thick Cardstock with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder, adhered a slightly larger piece of Basic White Thick Cardstock underneath, and popped up the entire panel with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To create the colorful paper that I used with the flower dies from the Hand-Penned Suite, I started with a Basic White Thick Cardstock, and used a couple of Sponge Daubers to randomly add small swirls of Highland Heather and Coastal Cabana. I also added some speckling by “flicking” the thick of my Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker against the edge of the marker cap.  (Place the tip of the marker on the inside edge of the cap, and “flick” outward towards your paper.)  To create the leaves, I used the same techniques, but I applied Pear Pizzazz and Soft Seafoam to the Basic White Thick Cardstock, and used my Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker to create the speckling.

The sentiment (from the Hand-Penned Suite) was heat-embossed on Basic White Thick Cardstock, using my Versamark Pad and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. After I cut out the sentiment with on of the Tailor Made Tags Dies, I popped it up with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For a bit of texture, I added some Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, cut in half vertically. To add some bling, I sprinked on Pastel Pearls and Pearl Basic Jewels.

Next up, in my 3″ x 6″ card…

For this card, I started with some Basic White Thick Cardstock, embossed it with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder, and adhered it to a Basic White Thick Cardstock base. I also layered some Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper on top of that, with the bottom edge torn off.

I then stamped the small stem image (from the Hand-Penned Suite) on a strip Basic White Thick Cardstock, using my Pear Pizzazz Classic Stampin’ Pad. For the little bloom stamp (also from the Hand-Penned Suite), I used my Highland Heather and Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Markers to color the image. However, before I added the bloom image to the stem image, I “stamped off” on a scrap of paper, so that I had a softer, subtle image. I also added some speckling by “flicking” the thick of my Bermuda Bay and Highland Heather Stampin’ Write Markers against the edge of the marker caps.  (Place the tip of the marker on the inside edge of the cap, and “flick” outward towards your paper.) I then tore off the bottom edge, and popped it up with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment (from the Hand-Penned Suite) was heat-embossed on Basic White Thick Cardstock, using my Versamark Pad and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. After I cut it out, I popped it up with a few Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For a bit of texture, I tucked some Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon under the bottom edge of the sentiment. To adhere the ribbon, I added some Tear & Tape Adhesive, and looped the ribbon back and forth on the adhesive. To add some bling, I sprinked on Pastel Pearls and Pearl Basic Jewels.

  1. Absolutely beautiful cards. Thank you for the explanation of the changes to the way the Artisan Design Team is sharing projects this year. I’ve been wondering.

  2. Your use of the Hand Penned stamp set is absolutely stunning. I love the color combination and your use of the designer paper although your choice strayed from the colors in the suite. The B side patterns for this paper selection make this paper choice so versatile. I love your bows, you have a style all of your own. You’ll have to share your technique with us one day! Happy crafting.
