05.30.18… Today was one of those days when I didn’t have a specific card layout or color combo in mind, until…I saw this week’s Global Design Project #GDP140). So…I decided to just start with a blank canvas (…a.k.a. Whisper White Cardstock). Next, I pulled out my new Detailed With Love stamp set …which, by the way, is quickly climbing up the charts as one of my “Top 10 Favorite Stamp Sets”! Such a versatile set! With the super adorable sentiments and trendy embellishment stamps, you just can’t go wrong!
With a blank canvas in front of me, I just plunged right in! I used my new Balmy Blue Classic Stampin’ Pad and an Aqua Painter to add a subtle wash of color. This same stamp pad was used (along with one of the embellishment stamps from the Detailed With Love stamp set), to create a background pattern. You’ll notice that I “stamped off” the image randomly as I was creating the background.
I had a small strip of Share What You Love Designer Series Paper that was calling my name, so I notched it a one end and layered it on my card. The sentiment was heat-embossed (using a Versamark Pad and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder) on Basic Black Cardstock, and then die cut with one of the Stitched Shape Framelits.
To add some shine, I used one of the Layering Circles Framelits to die cut a scalloped circle from a Gold Foil Sheet. I also tucked a few loops of Gold Metallic Thread underneath the circle, and then added a bit of White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon on top. The leaves were created with Vellum Cardstock, a Gold Foil Sheet, and the ever-so-handy Leaf Punch. For an extra splash or two of color, I added a couple of Tinted Faceted Buttons and sprinkled on a few Share What You Love Artisan Pearls. I had so much fun making this canvas come to life! Hope it inspires you to do the same!
TIP: When using a watercolor technique for your background, add an extra layer of color by including few randomly “stamped-off” images in the same ink color.
