going batty…

To Every Season - Halloween - Bats by Tammy C. Wilson

10.02.19…..Welcome to Wednesday, my stampin’ friends!  Halloween is upon on us, and I today I wanted to share a Halloween card To Every Season Bundle (from the 2019 Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog).  This is such a fun, versatile set!  It not only includes images, sentiments, and punches for Halloween…..but Fall, Thanksgiving, Winter, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day as well.  If you don’t have this set yet, you’ll want to order it soon and start creating your projects for all of the upcoming holidays!

For the Halloween projects I shared with you a couple of weeks ago, I used very non-traditional color combos.  However…..this week I’m going “old school” and using Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black.  Gotta love it!!!

To create the background, I used the one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks.  I used Pumpkin Pie, along with a sponge dauber, and applied the brick pattern to a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.  I then misted the paper with my Stampin’ Spritzer (filled with water), then sat back and watched the magic happen. As the colors started to run together, I also added a few more spritzes here and there. After I was satisfied with the results, I used my Heat Tool to dry the paper.

I stamped the bats (from the To Every Season Bundle) with my Tuxedo Black Memento Pad, and I then used a Basic Black Stampin Write Marker to add the splatters by “flicking” the thick end of the marker on the edge of the marker cap.

(I also stamped a few of the tiniest bats on a small, separate piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, which was colored using the same process as above, and punched them out with bat punch from the To Every Season Bundle.)

Before I adhered my background to the Pumpkin Pie Cardstock base, I tucked in some Basic Black Cardstock (embossed with the Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder).  I then die cut a bit of Basic Black Cardstock with one of the Stitched Nest Labels Dies, and embossed it with the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder.  After I punched a tiny hole in each end of the label, I added aa bit of Linen Thread and a few strands of Whisper White Baker’s Twine, and popped up the label with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment (also from the To Every Season Bundle) was heat-embossed on Basic Black Cardstock, using my Versamark Pad and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  After I cut out the words, I popped them up with a few Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I then used a few more Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the tiny bats that I punched out earlier.  For that little bit of bling, I sprinkled on a few of the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels (...and you thought they were only for Christmas or winter-themed projects!).

Wishing you creativity always,
