11.01.19…..Happy Friday, my stampin’ friends! Yes….it’s really is November 1st already, and those fall days will soon be gone! That being said, it’s already time for another TGIF Challenge! This week, we have a Color Challenge for you…..Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso, and Calypso Coral. As luck would have it, these are three of my most favorite colors, so I was super excited! I hope you have a chance to play along with us this week, over at TGIF Challenges. We would love to see what you create!
I absolutely love the Gather Together Bundle, and thought it would work just perfectly for this challenge. Before I go any further, I wanted to mention that I used some inspiration from Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Member, Ashley Van Camp, who shared a super cool technique back in September, using watercolored die cuts. (Thank you, Ashley!!!) However, I decided to give it just a bit of a twist. Instead of using a watercolor technique, I used my Stampin’ Sponges, along with my stamp pads, to create the colorful paper to use with my die cuts. So….let’s get to it!
For this week’s card, I started with a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, and embossed it with the Woodland Embossing Folder. Underneath, I layered a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock and then used a few Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the entire panel to a Whisper White Thick Cardstock base.
To create the paper to use with my die cuts, I started with a half sheet of Whisper White Thick Cardstock. I then used my Stampin’ Sponges (along with Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso, and Calypso Coral) to sponge a random pattern across the paper. To add some speckling, I used my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker, and flicked the thick end of the marker against the marker cap.
Below you can see the before picture, and then afterwards, once the leaves were cut out. Obviously, you can see from the “after” picture, that I cut out way more leaves than I needed, but that way I could pick and choose which ones I wanted to use, since each one was unique. (I also saved extra leaves to use on another project.)
Once I chose the leaves I wanted to use, I popped them up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment (also from the Gather Together Bundle) was stamped in Early Espresso, and cut out with one of the Stitched Nested Label Dies.
For some fun texture, I added Linen Thread, Braided Linen Trim (distressed), and a bit of Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle. For that little bit of bling, I sprinkled on several of the Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins.
Wishing you creativity always,
