artisan design team – october 2023 – merriest trees

10.18.2023…..Happy Wednesday, my stampin’ friends! Today, I’m sharing my October 2023 Artisan Design Team projects, using the whimsical Merriest Trees Bundle (from the Stampin’ Up! September – December 2023 Mini Catalog), along with the Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper. This is such a festive bundle, with wonderful images, perfect sentiments, and the perfect coordinating dies. On the “Spirit of the Season” card, I used one of my favorite watercoloring techniques. and for the “Love & Joy” card, I created a shaker card using one of the tree dies from the bundle. I hope these cards inspire you to use some of your favorite designer series paper and techniques to create some cards or projects with this fun and festive bundle!

I absolutely loved using both the Merriest Trees Bundle and the Walk in the Forest DSP to create both of my cards! It’s such a wonderful combo for creating lots of holiday cards and projects!

To create the “Spirit of the Season Card”, I started with a strip of the Walk in the Forest DSP, and adhered it along the bottom edge of a Basic White Thick Cardstock base. Next, I embossed some Basic White Thick Cardstock with Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder, and layered it on the card base.

To create the trees, I used Blending Brushes to add Pretty Peacock and Granny Apple Green to Basic White Thick Cardstock. I used a Water Painter to splatter water droplets. After I dried the paper with a Heat Tool, I used another Water Painter, along with White Craft Ink, to splatter more droplets, and dried the paper once more with a Heat Tool. I then used several of the dies from the Merriest Trees Bundle to cut out the trees. To add some extra embellishment to the trees, I used some additional dies from the Merriest Trees Bundle, along with More Dazzle Specialty Paper. I also used the little star die to cut out the little Basic White Thick Cardstock stars on the middle tree.

The sentiment (from the Merriest Trees Bundle) was heat-embossed on Basic White Thick Cardstock, using Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

For the “Love & Joy” card, I started with some Walk in the Forest DSP, and adhered it to a Pretty Peacock Cardstock base.

To create the “window” for the shaker card, I embossed Pretty Peacock Cardstock with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder, then cut out the tree with one of the tree dies from the Merriest Trees Bundle. After I layered the Window Sheet to the back of this panel, I added Loose Silver Sequins before adding the Walk in the Forest DSP behind it. Layered underneath the shaker window is some Basic White Thick Cardstock as well. I also used the little star die, along the More Dazzle Specialty Paper, to add the star at the top of the tree.

The sentiment (from the Merriest Trees Bundle) was heat-embossed on Basic White Thick Cardstock, using Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and cut out with one of the Tailor Made Tags Dies. To create the bow. I used silver Simply Elegant Trim and Silver & White Sheer Ribbon (cut in half lengthwise). For an extra bit of bling, I adhere a few of the sequins (from the Holly Gems & Sequins) to the front of the Window Sheet.
