03.02.2021…..Happy Tuesday, everyone! I’ve been have sooooo much fun creating projects with the Butterfly Brilliance Collection! All of the products in the collection are amazing, but my favorite is the Brilliant Wings Dies. Not only does this die set include “outline” dies coordinate with the butterflies on the Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper, but…it also comes with some wonderfully detailed butterflies that are beautiful all by themselves! And that, my stampin’ friends, was the inspiration for this card!
For this card, I used the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder with Basic White Cardstock, and adhered it to a Basic White Thick Cardstock base.
To create the watercolored background, I started with a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, and used a Water Painter to add some dabbles of water. I then the Water Painters…along with Magenta Madness, to add a wash of color. As the color started to run together, I used my Heat Tool to partially dry the paper. I also added a few more dabbles of Magenta Madness here and there, just to deepen the color a bit. After I was satisfied with the results, I used my Heat Tool to completely dry the paper. To create the speckling, I added more Magenta Madness to the brush tip, and “flicked” the brush tip against the inside edge of the brush cap, “flicking” outwards toward the paper.
I then layered some Basic White Cardstock underneath, along with a small strip of Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP. I also used a few Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the panel to the cardbase.

I cut out a Basic White Thick Cardstock butterfly, and a slightly smaller Vellum Cardstock butterfly, using two of the Brilliant Wings Dies. After I layered them together, I popped them up with a few Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment (from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set) was heat-embossed on Basic White Cardstock, using my Versmark Pad and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I also used my Water Painter again, along with Highland Heather, to add a very subtle wash of color across the sentiment.
To create the bow, I used some Whisper White twine (from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack) and Purple Posy Ribbon (from the Playing with Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack)…cut in half vertically. I also used some Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, colored it with my Dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends Marker, and cut that in as well. For a bit of bling, I sprinkled on several Woven Threads Sequins and a few gold Metallic Pearls.
Wishing you creativity alwasys,
