artisan design team – april 2021 – dandy garden…

04.18.2021…..Happy Sunday, everyone! I’m so excited to share my April monthly showcase projects for the Stampin’ Up! 2021 Artisan Design Team! For this month’s projects, I was asked to use several of the products from the Dandy Garden Suite, from the January – June Mini Catalog!

There have also been a few changes to the way the Artisan Design Team is sharing projects this year. The team has been divided into three groups, and each group is assigned a different collection of products to create with. This means an even greater variety of projects and inspiration. And…instead of the monthly blog hops, the team will have a greater presence on the Stampin’ Up! Corporate Facebook Page and their Instagram account as well.

Be sure check out the rest of the team’s fabulous creations on the Stampin’ Up! Corporate Facebook Page at : https://www.facebook.com/stampinup

For the two standard size cards, I used Gray Granite Cardstock for the card bases. To create the card on the very left, as well as the two mini 3″ x 3″ cards, I used the notecards from the Dandy Garden Memories & More Cards & Envelopes for the card bases.

On the 3″ x 3″ cards, the sentiments (from the Garden Wishes Bundle) were heat-embossed on Basic Black Cardstock, using my Versmark Pad and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. On the other three cards, the sentiments were embossed on Whisper White Cardstock, using Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. For a bit of bling, I sprinkled some of the Gold Glitter Enamel Dots on each card.

Let’s get to the extra details…

For this first card, I cut a scalloped edge on the right side of the card, using one of the dies from the Be Mine Stitched Dies. Layered on top of the card, is some Basic White Cardstock (embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder), with some Gray Granite Cardstock tucked underneath. I used one of the dies from the Garden Wishes Bundle to cut out two Pool Party dandelions. To add some extra dimension, I cut out two Coastal Cabana dandelions, trimmed off the stems, and tucked them underneath. I cut out the sentiment with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies, and tucked a bit of Pool Party Sheer Ribbon underneath.

For this second card, I added some Basic White Cardstock to the card base, then embossed a slightly smaller piece of Basic White Cardstock with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder, and popped it up with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals. Layered on top of that is a wide strip that I cut from one of the Dandy Garden Memories & More Card Pack,

To create the watercolored background, I first created my own stencil, using the large dandelion die from Garden Wishes Bundle and a scrap of cardstock. I then used a Sponge Dauber and my Versamark Pad to “stencil” the dandelion image on a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, the heat-embossed the dandelions with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Next, I misted the paper just a bit with my Stampin’ Spritzer. I then used a Water Painter…along with Bermuda Bay ink. As the color started to run together, I used my Heat Tool to dry the paper. To add the extra little water spots, I dipped my fingertips in a bit of water, and “flicked” them above the paper. This time, I let the paper dry on it’s own, and did not use my heat tool.

For the third card, I embossed some Gray Granite Cardstock with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder, and layered some Basic White Cardstock on top of the. I then added another piece Basic White Cardstock (embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder), with a small piece that I cut from from one of the Dandy Garden Memories and More Cards and Envelopes. (The tiny flower sticker that you see next to the sentiment is also from the Dandy Garden Memories & More Card Pack.)

For the create the dandelions, I added used a Sponge Dauber to add Coastal Cabana to some Basic White Cardstock, then used one of the dies from Garden Wishes Bundle to cut out the dandelions. For a fun bit of texture, I added some Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon (cut in half vertically), and Linen Thread, as well.

Last, but certainly not least, are the two, mini 3″ x 3″ cards. To create the little dandelions, I colored some Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, using a Water Painter and Coastal Cabana ink. One the paper was dry. I used each of the round dandelion dies (small, medium, and large) from the Dandy Wishes Dies, to cut out the three layers for each dandelion.

I used some Basic White Cardstock on each card (along with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. On the second card, I also used one of the square dies (from the Stitched Shapes Dies). I also used one of the scalloped square dies (from the Layering Squares Dies) to add a smaller layer of Gray Granite Cardstock to each card. For a fun bit of texture, I added some Whisper White twine (from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack), Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon (cut in half vertically), and Linen Thread, as well.

Wishing you creativity always,
