07.15.18… Yes, my stampin’ friends, summer is in full swing here in Northern California. Temperatures are now between 95º to over 100º on a daily basis…with no end currently in sight. Hmmm…a cabana on a tropical island (…and one of those fancy drinks with a little umbrella) sounds absolutely wonderful right about now! So there you go folks….. those bright, vivid, tropical colors were my inspiration for this card!
I used the Striped Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with Whisper White Cardstock, added a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock, and then layered them both on a Lemon Lime Twist card base.
Here’s where things got really fun…I broke out my Brusho Crystal Colors (in Brilliant Red and Gamboge). I used an Aqua Painter to apply water to the paper, sprinkled on a little bit of both colors, then used my Aqua Painter to blend the colors. So much fun!!!

After the paper was dry, I heat embossed the tropical-inspired flowers (from the Botanical Bliss stamp set), using my Versamark Pad and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. On Basic Black Cardstock,
I heat embossed the sentiment (from the Detailed With Love stamp set), using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder this time around. After I cut out the sentiment, I adhered it with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals, and added a bit of Linen Thread underneath. For that last little detail, I added a few Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins…..one of my favs!
TIP: If you are using brighter colors on your card, and it starts looking just a bit too bright, add a touch of neutral contrast (…think Crumb Cake Cardstock and Linen Thread) to tone things down a notch or two.
