a good day (#gdp191)…

A Good Day - Country Floral - by Tammy C. Wilson

05.30.19…..Happy Thursday, everyone!  I still can’t believe it, but the 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up Annual Catalog will be coming to an end in just a few days…on June 3rd!  Several of my stamp sets will be retiring, so I decided to make one last card with one of the sweetest little sets in the catalog, “A Good Day“.  That being said, the theme for this week’s Global Design Project (#GDP191) is Bees, Birds, & Butterflies, and I thought the little bird from the “A Good Day” stamp set would be perfect for my card.

For the background, I used the Country Floral 3D Embossing Folder with a piece of  Whisper White Cardstock, layered it with Daffodil Delight Cardstock, and adhered it to a Crumb Cake Cardstock base.  I also added a small piece of distressed Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper. The sentiment (also from the “A Good Day” stamp set) was heat-embossed on Crumb Cake Cardstock, using my Versamark Pad and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  After I cut out the sentiment, I popped it up with a few Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I heat-embossed my little bird on Watercolor Paper using my Versamark Pad and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  To watercolor the background, I used my Aqua Painter…..along with  Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Pear Pizzazz.  After I was done watercoloring,  I misted the paper with my Stampin’ Spritzer (filled with water), then sat back and watched the magic happen.  As the colors started to run together, I also added a few more spritzes here and there.  After I was satisfied with the results, I used my heat tool to dry the paper, but still left it slightly damp.  I then used a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker to add the splatters by “flicking” the thick end of the marker on the edge of the marker cap.

Before I added the Flirty Flamingo 1/8″ Ribbon (from the All My Love Ribbon Combo Pack) and the Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon, I cut each strip in half (very roughly), for more of an “organic” feel.  (Yes, my friends…I actually cut the 1/8″ ribbon in half.  I slowly “fed” the ribbon through my left hand and made the small, slow cuts with my right hand.)  Along with that, I added a few loops of Linen Thread, and then loosely tied everything together with a bit more Linen Thread.  For those extra little details, I sprinkled on a few Share What You Love Artisan Pearls and a couple of Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

The Stampin’ Up 2019 Occasions Catalog, as well as the 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up Annual Catalog are all chockful of so many wonderful products! Okay, let’s be honest…..they are absolutely overflowing with some of the most amazing products ever!
