01.14.2022…..Happy Monday, my stampin’ friends! Today, I wanted to share a card that I created for this month’s Stampin’ Fancy Friday challenge! It is a “birthday” challenge! And…..you can never have too many birthday cards on hand, so I was super excited about this challenge!
I love using a Water Painter to add quick washes of color to simple images that I’ve stamped with a Tuxedo Black Memento Pad. The Driving By Stamp Set (from the current Sale-A-Bration catalog) is just perfect for that. For a little unexpected twist, I used Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia, and Bermuda Bay to color those cute, little VW busses.
Hope this color challenge inspires you to create a birthdaycard or project with some of your favorite techniques and/or products!
For this card, I started with some Fresh Freesia Cardstock, embossed it with the Macrame 3D Embossing Folder, and adhered it to a Fresh Freesia Cardstock base. Then, I stamped several of the little busses from the Driving By Stamp Set (from the current Sale-A-Bration Catalog) in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, on Basic White Thick Cardstock. I also used a Heat Tool to throughly dry the images before I colored them.
Next, I used a Water Painter, along wit…..Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia, and Bermuda Bay….. to add quick washes of color to those cute, little VW busses. I also added some speckling, using myn Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. (To create the speckling, I “flicked” the thick end of the marker against the inside edge of the marker cap, and “flicked” outward towards the paper.)
The “Driving by just to say…” sentiment (also from the Driving By Stamp Set) was heat-embossed on Basic Black Cardstock, using my Versamark Pad and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. (The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set.)
To create the bow, I used Black & White Gingham Ribbon and Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, both cut in half lengthwise. I also used my Light Polished Pink Stampin’ Blends Marker to color the seam binding Ribbon . For a bit of bling, I sprinkled on Loose Flourish Flowers and 2021-2023 In Color Jewels.
