let it snow…

09.18.2022…..Happy Sunday, my stampin’ friends! I just love the little owl image from the Happier Than Happy Bundle! And…..I thought it would be perfect for a holiday card, so here is what I came up with! To create the forest in the background, I also used the Mountain Air Stamp Set. Hope this inspires you to use some of your “everyday” stamp sets to create a holiday-themed card!

For my card, I started with a piece of Basic White Thick Cardstock, embossed it with one of the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders, and adhered it to a Mossy Meadow Cardstock base. I then used one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out another piece of Basic White Thick Cardstock, and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To create the background, I used a Blending Brush to add soft swirls of Balmy Blue. I stamped the trees (from the Mountain Air Stamp Set), in Old Olive. To add some extra shading, I also used a Sponge Dauber to add a bit of Mossy Meadow to the stamps as well….before I stamped the trees on the cardstock. I then my Water Painter, along with a few drops of my White Craft Ink Refill (mixed with a tiny bit of water) to add some white speckles. (To create the speckling, I “flicked” the end of the brush against the inside edge of the brush cap, and “flicked” outward towards the cardstock.) Once the cardstock was dry, I adhered it to the Stitched Rectangle panel.

I stamped the little owl (from the Happier Than Happy Bundle) in Smoky Slate. To add some extra shading, I also used a Sponge Dauber to add a bit of Early Espresso to the stamp as well….before I stamped the owl on the cardstock, and cut it out the the coordinating die from the same bundle I stamped the tree stump (also from the Happier Than Happy Bundle) in Early Espresso, and cut it out with the coordinating die from the same bundle. Before I popped up both images with Stampin’ Dimensionals, I add more speckling, using my Water Painter and White Craft Ink.

The sentiment (from the Joyful Flurry Stamp Set) was heat-embossed on Basic White Cardstock, using my Versamark Pad and Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. To create the little wreath, Parakeet Party Metallic Woven Ribbon. I pulled a thread or two from each end of the ribbon. I kept pulling until the ribbon gathered up, and then formed a wreath with the gathered ribbon. For the tiny bow, I used a few threads of White Baker’s Twine. To add a bit of bling to the wreath, I added Festive Pearls.

Wishing you creativity always,

  1. This is a gorgeous card ! I love it so much that I tried to copy it, but I have problems to make the wreath with the ribbon. Could you do a short video to show how to do it ? Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing this great card and all your others ! Anne from France
