03.26.21…..Happy Friday, everyone! It’s already time for another TGIF Challenge! We love bringing you weekly paper-crafting inspiration, and are so excited to have you join us in this week for a Designer Takeover Challenge! That’s right folks…the amazingly talented Tanya Rees (one of our team members) has challenged everyone to create their own Designer Series Paper! How fun is that?!? This challenge should be a great one to spark wonderful creativity! We hope you have a chance to play along with us today! We would love to see what you create!
For this card, I started with some Basic White Cardstock, embossed it with the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder, and adhered it to a Magenta Madness Cardstock base.
To create my own DSP, I used the branch from the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set. I first stamped the image in Petal Pink, and “stamped off” once on a scrap of paper. I then used a Sponge Dauber to randomly add a little bit of Magenta Madness, and then stamped the image on Basic White Thick Cardstock. I repeated this process for each branch that I stamped, quickly clearning off the ink before I stamped it in Petal Pink again. Once I was done stamping, I embossed the paper with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
I also added some speckling, using my Light Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blends Marker, and Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker. To create the speckling, I “flicked” the thick end of the marker against the inside edge of the marker cap, “flicking” outward toward the paper. I then layered some Basic White Cardstock underneath, and used a few Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the panel to the card base.

The sentiment (from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set) was heat-embossed on Basic White Thick Cardstock, using my Versamark Pad and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I cut it out with one of the Stitched Shapes Dies, layered a scalloped circle (cut out with one of the Layering Circles Dies), and popped it up with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To create the bow, I used Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon (cut in half vertically), and also some several threads pulled from the Magenta Madness 2020-2022 1/4″ Ribbon. For a bit of bling, I sprinkled on Woven Threads Sequins, Elegant Faceted Gems, and gold Metallic Pearls.
Wishing you creativity always,

Great card

Good morning – happy Saturday!! Just wanted to say your card and color combinations are just lovely!!! You have reminded me that buying DSP I’m not crazy about isn’t needed when you can create your own colorful background whenever you need! Well done!!! ~Denise A ND Demo

Awww…thank you so much, Denise! 💕 Yes…I love DSP, but it’s fun to create my own custom backgrounds, too. 😀
